The
2013 Golden Spoon contest was held in nine provinces and cities across the
country: Dong Thap; Can Tho; Binh Duong; Buon Me Thuot; Nha Trang; Da Nang; Ho
Chi Minh City; Hanoi and Hai Phong. The contest is not only a place of
competition, but also where special delicacies are introduced that reflect the
unique and traditional culture of each region and locales throughout the
country.
The
Golden Spoon contest from the Ho Chi Minh City Tourism Association in
collaboration with the center of Business Study and Assistance (BSA) and other
sponsors aims to discover and introduce the special tasty dishes in Vietnam to
domestic and foreign tourists, honor talented chefs and promote the importance
of business services which is for diners’ health.
The
opening ceremony that took place in Hanoi this morning began the final round of
the contest with the theme "Hometown Taste", with 20 restaurants and
hotels from Hanoi, Ninh Binh, Nghe An and Thanh Hoa.
Accordingly, on December 20, 2013, the semi-final round for the North Central
region and North region will also take place in Hanoi. The southern region will
be held in Ho Chi Minh City on January 3, 2014 entitled "Golden
Dish". As expected, the semi-final round of all regions will have an attendance
of 22 teams from which will be selected only 10 finalist teams to attend the
final round in Binh Duong province on January 14, 2014 with the theme
"Surprise Dishes".
The competition has a total prize value up to VND 2
billion. The first prize is worth VND 1 billion. There are three second prizes,
and each prize worth VND 100 million. All teams that pass the preliminary round
will receive a gift worth VND 20 million per team.
