There are 13 teams
competing in this contest, coming from: Can Tho, Tien Giang, Ben Tre, Dong Thap
and Vinh Long. The contest is sponsored by Vietnam National Administration of
Tourism and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Vietnam with the Ly's Horeca
brand of the Minh Long Ceramics Company being the main sponsor.
The
results of the preliminary round were: Champions - An Hoa hotel restaurant (Ben
Tre province). Second prizes went to the
Saigon Beer Club (Dong Thap province) and Van Phat 1 hotel restaurant (Can Tho
province). The second prizes were worth VND 30 million each.
All
winning dishes met the criteria of the Organizing Committee: traditional
country style dishes featuring typical cultural values or authentic local
characteristics and contributing to the diversification of Vietnamese
cuisine. They represented the message
that every dish should promote local culture.
This
is the second season of the “Golden Spoon - Drawing a Vietnamese Cuisine Map”.
The contest will take place in 10 provinces, in cities which represent Vietnam
and will be extended until October. First in Can Tho it will then move on to
Kien Giang, HCm City, Binh Duong, Lam Dong, Khanh Hoa, Danang, Quang Ninh,
Hanoi and Lao Cai.
After the semi-finals in North and South, the final will take place in Binh
Duong province on December 10th. The total value of prizes of this
contest is VND 3 billion including the winners prize of VND1 billion. Other
prizes will be awarded for each round and each region.
The
renowned artist and Vietnamese product ambassador, Kim Xuan said that this
contest is to honor talented chefs, who use their skill to present dishes in the
most refined manner. They also contribute to the enrichment of Vietnamese
cuisine culture. This in turn promotes Vietnamese cuisine tourism to the
international community.
