Second
prizes valued at VND100 million went to the Ho Tram Strip (Vung Tau) team, the Hyatt
Regency Danang Hotel and Sun Way Hotel (Hanoi).
The Golden Spoon contest 2014 was jointly organized by Minh Long I Co. Ltd. and
the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Vietnam and Tourism. It carried the theme
“Drawing the Vietnamese cuisine map”. This contest is to uncover talented chefs
who have the creativity and presentational skills needed to upgrade these
dishes up to an international level.
The
criteria of each dish in this contest are to promote the culture of each region
and upgrade existing values of Vietnamese cuisine, which is not only delicious
but also nutritious. This contest attracted 140 teams, 43 of which came from
restaurants and 4 and 5-star hotel. Contestants came from the North and South
and took part in the contest from 10 different locations.
In
the final round, the organizing committee introduced an exhibition entitled “A
journey to create the Vietnamese cuisine map” in order to promote the locations
visited by the contest.
2014 was the second year that the Golden Spoon contest has taken place and the
number of professional chefs increased significantly; not only in numbers but
also in competency. This was especially noticeable throughout the preparation process, the improvement of their
uniforms, the professional manner as well as presentational skills in
displaying Vietnamese food which met the criteria “delicious and nutritious”.
