France
and Italy have traditionally dominated the wine production and consumption
scene but they now share the spotlight with a New World country, according to
this nifty infographic from Remedy Liquor.
It
turns out that the United States ranks at the top of the list with a wine
consumption of 31.8 million hectoliters per year, the equivalent of 840 million
gallons a year, according to data gathered in 2016.
France
came in second with 27 million hectoliters while Italy made it to number three
on the list thanks to an annual wine consumption of 22.5 million hectoliters.
Germany and China round out the top five.
