Its
goals are to explore, preserve and develop Vietnamese cuisine and showcase it
to local people, foreign visitors and the outside world.
It
has 163 members including culinary researchers and experts, and organisations
and business in the food, hospitality and tourism sectors in Hà Nội, HCM City,
Thanh Hóa, Quảng Bình, and Cần Thơ.
It
will function under the aegis of the ministries of Home Affairs and Culture,
Sports and Tourism.
Speaking
at the inaugural event at the Reunion Palace, Nguyễn Văn Tuấn, chairman of the
Việt Nam National Administration of Tourism, said: “The Việt Nam Culinary
Culture Association opens a path to research, promote and honour Vietnamese
food, chefs and culinary artisans and researchers.
“It
will also help develop Vietnamese cuisine into a strong brand name as a way to
develop the country’s tourism.”
The
association will fulfill its charter by carrying out research, combining and
promoting traditional and modern culinary systems, organising events such as
food festivals and competitions, and providing training to young Vietnamese to
educate them about the country’s culinary culture.
